Konstantin Makovsky (1839-1915) was born in Moscow into a family of Russian artists and amateur artist, Yegor Ivanovich Makovsky.
Painting studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, and the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.
In 1870, he became one of the founders of the "Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions."
In 1880 Konstantin Makovsky was fashionable author of portraits and historical paintings, one of the highest Russian artists of the time.
