Yuon Konstantin Fyodorovich (1875-1958)

Moscow - April 11, 1958, Moscow) - Russian and Soviet painter, master of landscape; theater artist, art theorist.
Born 12 (24) October 1875 in Moscow at the Swiss-German family. Father - an employee of the insurance company, and later - its director; mother - amateur musician.
Konstantin Yuon from 1892 to 1898 he studied at the MUZHVZ. His teachers were such masters as Savitsky, AE Arkhipov, NA Kasatkin.
After graduation he worked for two years in the studio by Valentin Serov. Then founded his own studio, where he taught from 1900 to 1917, together with IO Dudin. His pupils were, in particular, AV Kuprin, VA Tabor, VI Mukhina, Vesnin brothers, ND Collie, Reuter, Michael G..
In 1903 Huon was one of the organizers of the Union of Russian Artists. He also was one of the participants of the "World of Art".
Since 1907 he has worked in the field of theatrical scenery.
Since 1925 Huon - Member AHRR. In addition to working in the genres of painting, he was actively engaged in registration of theatrical performances and art graphics.
In 1948 and 1950, the artist worked as the director of the Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the USSR Academy of Arts.

From 1952 to 1955 he taught as a professor at MGAHI Surikov, as well as a number of other educational institutions. Since 1957 was the first secretary of the USSR Union of Artists.

KF Huon died April 11, 1958. He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy Cemetery (section number 4)
